We aren’t hacking it nowadays by a little bit…

Do you know that before Apple bought NeXT and brought back Steve Jobs to the team, its first negotiations about a possible successor for Mac OS were with Be Inc, especifically looking for BeOS?

I, particulary, liked so much the way Apple choosed, but, BeOS was a really interesting OS…

BeOS

Due to the fact that Apple changed his mind and bought NeXT, BeOS was ported to the x86 platform and it can be installed at any PC with Windows or Linux…

I had the opportunity to try it out before it was discontinued, and it really was a great experience, even only being able to launch it through Windows/Linux due the absence of a proprietary bootloader…

But, fortunately, for those (like me) who likes experimenting with different OSes, there is a BeOS clone that still under Development called Haiku OS

Haiku

It is a tiny and fast OS… Perfect for those times were the only thing you want is some new air…

And different than BeOS, you can boot it directly using its own bootloader…

The only thing that unfortunately was not implemented, is support for (U)EFI boot, but, apparently, it is under development…

Also, for those guys who like to MultiBoot various OSes, some time ago, after THIS discussion, proper Haiku detection was added to Chameleon Bootloader

It’s worth using it…
