What is Hackintosh?

Hakintosh is an allusion to Macintosh, but the most important, is what it is referring to…

It’s referring to OSx86 that is a “Hacking” project intended to run Apple’s Mac OS X system on a non-Apple x86/x86_64 processor…

The main thing here isn’t only “Install” Mac OS X at your PC as many users think, but make the “OS think” that it’s running under “real” Apple Hardware…

A real Hacker have to “truly” place his hands at the work… He really has to modify things by himself… Not to wait for someone make his job…

Unfortunately, there are people like TonyMacx86, who makes lots of Hackintosh users misunderstand the meaning of all this because he earn “Money” by making people think this way…

If you spend some minutes at his Forum, you’ll see lots of Ads promoting its “CustoMac” guides… Let’s analyze a link?

Do you know what this mean? Money! But not for you, for him… Do you think this is completely normal? But NO, it isn’t…

His policy is to create “puppets” and to be his “Master” by making all his users think only that hardware is compatible and is impossible to Hack anything that isn’t listed by him…

For example, if you go at TonyMac’s Forum and ask for help to install Mac OS X on a Machine with AMD processor, in the best scenario, you’ll be discouraged, at the worst, you’ll be “summarily” banned…

Not because it’s a bit more “tricky” to install Mac OS X on AMD processors, but because he’ll not earn an “easy” money by encouraging this…

So, this is completely out of the Hackintosh way…

Hackintosh Distros (Distributions like Kalyway, iAtkos, Hazzard, etc…) are an different thing…

In the past, it was really tricky to install OS X on a regular PC, so, many people (including me) had his first Hackintosh experience after use one of this Distros…

But nowadays, beside the fact that this is “illegal” (yes, illegal because you didn’t bought it, so, it’s stolen), thanks to the efforts of many Developers, you can buy a Retail copy of “Mac OS X Snow Leopard” DVD, make a Vanilla install of Mac OS X and use it to download OS X Mavericks for free from AppStore…

So, the short long story is, if for you “build” your Hackintosh will be a challenge and a learning experience, you are on the right track…

But, if you only want to install Mac OS X to say that you were able to install Apple’s system at your machine, do not even waste your time… You will not enjoy this practice that borders a lifestyle… Not even the great Operational System that it is…
